The Dominican Republic

The Most Popular Caribbean Destination

...endless beaches and an everlasting summer...

dominican beach

Today, nobody can doubt the fact that the Dominican Republic is the most popular and loved tourist destination in the Caribbean. This exotic island fascinates visitors with its spectacular white sand beaches, all-inclusive resorts, warm sun and the promise of an unforgettable vacation far away from the hustle and bustle of the big cities at home, in a tropical paradise, where the everyday stress and routine disappear in the relaxing sounds of the sea.

You will have the chance to spoil yourself on the beaches of this Caribbean Island, enjoying the luxurious accommodations, delicious food and impeccable services provided by friendly and welcoming Dominicans. However, the Dominican Republic has much more to offer than beautiful beaches and breathtaking scenery. You certainly do not want to miss out on the incredible jungle, lagoons, hidden caves, monumental mountains, desert land, or magnificent waterfalls, not to mention the culture, people, foods or nightlife you can discover in the Dominican cities.

The Climate and the Weather

...365 sunshine days per year...

dominican republic sunset

All year round the weather is pleasantly warm and sunny. The tropical climate in this region brings temperatures to about 28-32 °C / 80-90 °F throughout the entire year. The humidity in the region is also high, but the pleasant breeze keeps everything tolerable.

Different regions, different weather

The weather differs depending on the region. The northern part of the Dominican Republic, as well as the Samana Peninsula, enjoys larger amounts of rainfall between October and April. The rainy season in the southern part is between September and November. If you do not like the rain, you can choose as a vacation destination Bayahibe, because it is the place that experiences the least rainfall during the year. However, you should be ready for short downpours at any moment. Many times, these heavy, short rains are much awaited by tourists and locals, because they offer some relief from the hot temperatures of the island.

Hurricanes might strike

Visitors should be aware of the fact that the hurricane season lasts from June to November. A tropical storm or -once in a decade- a hurricane might hit the island. August and September are the peak months for storms. However the effects of these events are normally very minor.
